First Presbyterian Church Preschool is an outreach ministry of First Presbyterian Church, and we serve children and families throughout the community. A "hands-on" approach is encouraged through imaginative play, exploration, and experimentation. We use The Creative Curriculum for Preschoolers as our core educational model, and we encourage responsibility and independence in the children, while building their self-confidence and self-esteem.
We serve children 20 months through 5 years of age, and class placement is based on the child’s age as of September. For children under two, classroom enrollment is limited to eight children per class. For other age groups, enrollment ranges from fourteen to sixteen children per classroom. We offer four classes for pre-kindergarten: one is 3-days per week (M/W/F) and three are Monday thru Friday classes. We have two teachers in each classroom.
Everyone on the Preschool Staff has CPR and First Aid certification and completes annual Early Childhood continuing education courses.
All Preschool staff are required, at a minimum, to:
- hold an undergraduate degree in early childhood education or another field; or have successful work experience in early childhood education.
- be currently certified in CPR and First Aid.
- successfully complete annual Early Childhood continuing education courses.
Lunch Bunch is offered Monday through Thursday from 12:00 noon until 1:30 p.m. To participate, children must be 2 1/2 years old and not require a nap, as we do not have napping facilities. Pack a lunch and beverage for your child and let him/her join us for this popular activity. There is an additional charge for Lunch Bunch.
