David began his ministry at First Pres in the fall of 2011. His passion centers around discerning what God is saying to us in the scriptures, especially in worship and Bible study. Prior to accepting the call to First Pres, David served as the pastor and head of staff at First Presbyterian Church in Clarksville, TN (2007-2011) and as the Associate Dean of Faculty at Columbia Seminary (1999-2007). David earned a Civil Engineering degree from the University of Kansas, a M.Div. degree Princeton Seminary, and a Ph.D. from the University of Texas. Currently, he serves on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Religious Leader, a peer-review journal he edited for over 8 years and is on the Board of Trustees at Grove City College. David is married to Liz, whom he met in their first year of seminary. Together they have two children, Sam and Ellie. As a family, they enjoy playing all types of games, cooking, and traveling together. One of their favorite destinations is Colorado, where David's parents still live in his childhood home.
